Patient name: Dillon Connolly
Age: 26
Condition/Illness: spinal cord injury, C-4/C-5 complete.
Using Medical Cannabis since: April 2015.
Why did you start using cannabis?
I was a college swimmer, and I got in an accident while swimming. After my injury, I had zero appetite. We tried several different prescription medicines and none of them worked. Finally I got prescribed Marinol (THC pills) from my doctor, and it was the first thing that worked. It’s been a godsend.
Did you try other methods or treatments before cannabis?
Yes, a couple different medications.
What’s the most important issue or problem facing medical cannabis patients?
Close-minded people who judge a user negatively.
What do you say to folks who are skeptical about cannabis as medicine?
I would say to ask someone who is well educated about its benefits. If it seems like it might be a good potential choice for you, be open to trying it. After starting my cannabis treatment, I actually found out that it helps a tremendous amount with my nerve pain as well. Night and day difference for me. I was able to sleep at night after taking a dose when I could not sleep because of nerve pain. – IReadCulture.com
