Authorities said Friday they were searching for the person who stabbed a 15-year-old student to death at an East Los Angeles Middle School.
The incident occurred at David Wark Griffith Middle School at 4765 East 4th St. (map), Los Angeles Unified School District spokesman Daryl Strickland.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the school around 3 p.m., and a male juvenile was transported to a local hospital, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. John Sagardi said.
The juvenile died at the hospital, LASD stated in a news release.
The 15-year-old student was stabbed by scissors in front of the school by a possible fellow student, LAUSD’s Monica Carrazo said.
Sheriff’s deputies would not confirm the deceased was a student.
The Hispanic male who committed the stabbing was outstanding, Sagardi said. No further information was available.
