It’s no secret Nicki isn’t over Safaree. You can’t simply erase 10 years, and a friendship nurtured before fame. Power comes with money, so Nicki Minaj used it to work her jelly for Jay Z’s Tidal. Meek Mill slid right out of jail, and into Safaree’s cocaine sheets. Meek was beating that kitten, the moment Safaree decided not to take her back. Fans are still baffled. We watched Nicki, and Safaree grow rich, and apart.
The PinkPrint was heart breaking, and Safaree was the album’s main contributor. However, when it was time to promote the album, we all saw Meek basking in her and Safaree’s hard earned acclaim and limelight. Meek Mill never garnered national headlines until he was Nicki’s man, or being arrested. We helped Nicki’s Pinkprint album sell over 500,000 copies, but we refuse to buy her Meek showmance.
Fans went nuts when Nicki Minaj posted a snobby picture of a diamond stacked heart ring on her engagement finger. She flooded Instagram with pics of her and Meek Mill. He went on tour with her, and even stood in her shadow at celebrity All-Star basketball events- just like Safaree used to do.
Is Meek Nicki’s new ghost writer, or nah? Does Meek really dig Nicki, or is he using her to bump his way up to A-list? What about Meek’s baby’s mother? Is Nicki a step- momma now? Is Meek just a rebound dude?
Just when Meek Mill thought he’d hit a major lick, he mustered the confidence to ask for Nicki’s hand in marriage. Minaj was flattered, but refused. Nicki understands that her job would never allow the luxury of a real relationship. She barely has time to see her own parents, and siblings. Meek was humiliated, and his feelings were hurt. For industry’s sake, Meek handled the diss like a player.
“It’s definitely real,” he told Fader Magazine about their highly publicized relationship. “But it ain’t really time to get married yet. We’re still learning each other, feeling each other out.”
T.I. is curious about the showmance too! He pressured Meek to confess the truth.
“I ain’t engaged,” Meek lied. Then Tip was like “You never asked her, ‘Will you be my girlfriend?’ But she is your girlfriend. You may not have asked her, ‘Will you marry me?’ But you’re engaged…I’ve said my part, as long as you know what’s going on.”
