First off, we heard Shonda Rhimes is dating a white guy- but that’s besides the point. Her parents (acknowledge the ‘S’ because her daddy wasn’t locked up, on dope, or refusing paternity ) used their educations to become educators. Rimes didn’t grow up in the hood. Don’t let her blackness fool you. Rhimes attended Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois. She was a C student at Dartmouth College.
So how did Miss Rhimes develop the talent to produce television medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, its spin-off Private Practice, and the political thriller series, Scandal? Is Shonda slobbing somebody’s pipe at ABC? How did Shonda rise from a tiny town in middle America, to honing her screenwriting skills to Hollyweird’s A-list?
Shonda Rhimes completed graduate studies at University Southern California. USC is one of the most prestigious universities in the world. Less than 1% of the student body is black. Although it’s located in South Central, ninjaz are rarely accepted. Your parents have to be celebrities, or you have to have a 5.0 GPA to apply for enrollment. USC is also incredibly expensive, even with financial aid. Because of the price of its tuition, you will be surrounded by very wealthy, perhaps snobby, students.
Master P’s son attended school at USC, and Jamie Foxx daughter too. A poor ninja can get in Paris Hilton’s drawers, before he can get accepted into University Southern California. The competition is relentless. The school uses the same state of the art production equipment as big networks like CNN, and Fox. USC’s graduates don’t have to be trained. Students have the privilege of interning at local studios like Sony and DreamWorks. So how did Shonda Rhimes get in? We’ll wait…
