Video – Fetty Wap Inspires Kid To Ditch His Prosthetic Eye

Eye see youYou probably don’t think of Fetty Wap as an inspiration to children, but a heartfelt story from Colorado mom Brenda Vaden proves otherwise. “Today I am forever thankful to a young man named Willie Maxwell aka Fetty Wap,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “He unknowingly gave [my son] Jayden something we weren’t able to give him — the confidence to be different.”

This confidence was brought upon by Jayden’s love of the “My Way” rapper — he’s a “real fan,” as his mom attests. Diagnosed with Retinoblastoma at the age of one, Jayden underwent eye removal surgery shortly after and has since worn a prosthetic. Losing an eye at a young age is something he has in common with Fetty Wap, and it was the latter’s choice not to wear a prosthetic that prompted Jayden to similarly “venture the world without” one.

Vaden profusely thanked the rapper for daring to be different and influencing her son to do the same. “And we’ll be purchasing his album,” she concludes, “a small thank you to him for changing Jayden’s life forever.” – Billboard
